WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR JOB?

I love spending the day with couples and being a part of all the in-between and behind-the-scenes moments that no-one else sees. I often come away from weddings with two new friends and absolutely buzzing from a super happy and fun day.

Also, working for myself means I can choose when I do my editing. Usually I do it in the evenings once my daughter is in bed, and in the daytime we get to hang out and go on lots of mini adventures together. It’s the absolute best!

WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE WEDDING YOU HAVE EVER WORKED ON, & WHAT MADE IT SO SPECIAL?

Last year I did a wedding at The Old Vicarage at Elkesley (a beautiful outdoor venue that I couldn’t recommend more!) which was memorable for a few reasons.
There was an outdoor ceremony set in a woodland clearing, which the rain stopped for just two minutes before the start. It was simple, beautiful and full of bona fide love. So that was an excellent start!
The bride and groom were so laid back and heaps of fun. The venue has a shallow river running through it, and they got in the river not once, twice, but three times! First for a duck race, second for their portraits, and the last time was just for the thrill of it.
We all had such a laugh and it made for some truly unique photos. It was smaller wedding and by the end of the night everyone knew my name. When I left the party, I was given a round of applause. And when I had to go back to collect something I’d left behind, I got another one! It was so funny and so lovely, I felt like such an integral part of the day and was smiling all the way home.

IF YOU COULD BE A PART OF A CELEBRITY WEDDING, WHO WOULD IT BE & WHY?

One thing that really makes a wedding day special is the crowd, so I’d have to say a comedian off the telly.
Someone who’d have Bob Mortimer as a best man, ideally. Imagine the speeches!

WHAT UNUSUAL OR UNIQUE REQUESTS HAVE YOU RECEIVED FROM COUPLES, AND HOW DID YOU MAKE THEM HAPPEN?

One couple told me before anyone else that they were expecting a baby, so I could take photos of them announcing it on their wedding day.
I made sure I was set up in the right spot, so I could capture everyone’s reactions. It was a lovely moment!

WHICH WEDDING TREND ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY LOVING RIGHT NOW, & WHY DO YOU THINK IT IS SO POPULAR?

It’s not so much a trend but I love that more and more people are choosing to have celebrant-led ceremonies.
It’s a great way of personalising your wedding celebrations and brings the ceremony into the forefront of the day.
Celebrants will take the time to get to know you and create a ceremony all about you as a couple.
You can say, do, sing and create whatever you want! You can hold it wherever you want. I think people are seeing other choosing them and thinking, this is what I want to do! My wife and I did!

TOP TIP

Have a detailed timetable and tell your photographer everything you are planning to do. I always go through a plan of the day with you beforehand, so I’m prepared for the next moment that you definitely want photographed or can give you a cheeky nudge when it’s time to get some couple portraits.
