With UK cricket season well underway, we thought it was the perfect time to share this cricket themed styled wedding photoshoot.

The photoshoot, co-ordinated by multi award-winning wedding venue stylist and wedding planner, The Secret Bridesmaid says

Although this was a ‘themed’ editorial photoshoot, we wanted to show that a themed wedding, such as a cricket-themed wedding, can be elegant and charming without feeling overly gimmicky”

Fancy a look? we’re sure you’re going to be ‘bowled over’…

THE SETTING

We chose the beautifully historic Repton School Cricket Pavilion to use for our styled photoshoot, with its picturesque thatched roof, immaculate grounds and impeccably maintained floral displays that feature throughout the year, which really adds to the charm and softer aesthetic, lending itself beautifully for a wedding.

Repton School colours are blue and gold, and we wanted that to work with the red of the cricket balls, so we opted for a muted traditional British colour palette of ‘red white and blue’ which became vintage red, cream and dusky blue. This softened the colours and gave it more traditional wedding vibes.

To really set the scene, we made use of tasteful original and vintage cricket props, such as wooden bats, leather balls, and even managed to get a custom wedding message displayed on the scoreboard.

We made use of the original oak chairs as part of both the ceremony and wedding breakfast to create a softer vintage feel. As well as incorporating lots of draping along with lush greenery and white flowers to soften the sporty elements of the building
For Paul (model Groom) we opted for a crisp white linen suit reminiscent of traditional cricket attire. In contrast, for Christina (model Bride) we opted for a vintage lace and soft tulle dress to contrast beautifully with the sporty theme.

Our celebrant, Oliver, really got into the team spirit and came wearing cricket whites!

Our (real life couple) models actually met playing cricket so of course we asked if they wanted to get a few runs in, and blimey did they happily oblige!

We managed to capture so many great playful images of them. As well as the couple taking a moment to ring the iconic Repton Bell to signal that afternoon tea (wedding breakfast) was being served.
